Stef Kolman is free lance strategist, designer, developer. His work is defined by a constant push for innovation along with a quest for intimacy, clarity, simplicity and modesty. In addition to his client work, he is also known as founder and developer of near future technology startups such as bliin Yourlive, OpenCarData and Wealgo. His work has been published in varying media and outlets. With his wife Martine Stig and their two daughters - he currently lives in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

I have the pleasure of helping outstanding individuals and organisations to reach their goals. I provide advise, development, design and delivery to accomplish the finest - most personal - bespoke end results. I very much enjoy discreet, direct contact in a background, serving role. Coaching—I find—is mostly about listening. The Sisters of Joy call it: "Listening one back into one's life." Coaching is about someone answering one's own questions; speak them, formulate them.
My work and interests are on the edges of business, technology, art & lifestyle. As a father of two daughters I have learned that ‘I’ is not an end, but a bridge towards a more just and brighter future.coaching
When I coach, mostly, preferably, I want to speak with the organisation at large—or it's key stakeholders—not just the client in particular. Trust & discretion are core factors and different kind of trust agreements have to be made with different people in an organisation.
Above all—when coaching—my aim is to get beyond the personal, individual and to find common ground in a shared objective, the entity that the group is striving for. When this becomes clear, jointly people can start working towards goals and results.
The client always knows best how to excell in their work. They are the experts and I always feel lucky to learn from them.
Strategy is the path to application of expertise in a clients' non-expert domain. Core to a succesful strategy is the continuity of value integrity. I can only take on clients if expert values can be upheld in non-expert domains.
The design process is part architectural part sculptural. Architectural as you're building structure, shape, texture, color, etc quite literally from the ground up. Sculptural as your carving, chipping, shaping away from the block to reveal its identity.
I love this process of creation and elimination, addition and exclusion, exeptance and rejection, seeking for an undeniable expression.
From the outset I work with real world prototypes. As much as possible I want a client to feel, to experience the product that we are building.
I am a self-taught developer. I always thought I could never learn the language of code, untill I tried. This doesn't make me the best developer but with determination, help and time I have always been able to create what I was thinking, without making concessions.
I speak HTML, CSS, Javascript & PHP. I like working with the Processwire CMS, a vastly more friendly, less invasive and less pollutive alternative to Wordpress.
I work with experts in my network to take on and solve assignments above my individual skill grade or scope size.
Over the years I've been collecting quotes. I am presenting them here, and I hope they may serve as some kind of personal profile and provide insight in my interests, my values and my thinking.
